Delay

It’s 9:05 at the Dallas-Fort Worth airport.

Our flight was schedule for 9 a.m. take-off.

Half-an-hour ago, a honeyed voice announced over the loudspeaker that she had “semi-good-news.” “Our airplane has landed, the first to do so this morning! Our crew still had not navigated from hotel to airport.”

And now she announces that 10 a.m. is “decision time.” She explains this means a decision will be made at 10 about cancellation or time-of-takeoff.

As I wait, I struggle to practice a virtue that is foreign to me: patience.

  1. Ha! I could hear the "honeyed voice." And I smiled as you moved to patience. In a 4G world there is no such thing!
